WHAT’S NEW
The following changes have been made in the current update (2025.1):
Changes for Blend and Flow
- Improved linking, and fixed possible small gouges that could occur in linking when using lollipop tools. (#51803, #45147)
Changes for Post-Processor
- Fixed an issue in which post-processor files encrypted using Fusion were not readable. (#54696)
Changes for Tool Library
- Fixed an issue in which renumbering tools did not work when using the new-tool-library feature flag. (#43170)
General
- Ongoing security improvements. (#54607, #53624, #54606, #54607)
The following changes have been made in an earlier update (2025):
Changes for Adaptive
- Use a box test to find which pocket in the next Z-level to machine in 2D Adaptive. Expect a slightly faster speed when using a large number of pockets with 2D Adaptive and "order by depth" disabled. (#49092)
- Improved the calculation time of Adaptive machining on large parts. (#48039, #47802)
- Fixed several issues that could result in a gouge when using Adaptive Clearing. (#46475, #48834)
- Fixed an issue for 3D Adaptive that could lead to a stock collision in a plunge move in some cases. (#44735)
Changes for Contour and Pocket
- Improved linking performance for Pocket Clearing. (#44926)
- Fixed an issue in linking for Contour which could cause missing lead-out arcs. (#46202)
- Fixed an issue in which transitions in Pocket Clearing could cause tool over engagement. (#50089)
- Fixed undesired behaviour in Pocket that could occur when no stock or machining boundary was selected in rest machining. It now uses a shilhouette boundary of the rest surfaces, setup stock or selected bodies. (#47057)
- Fixed several issues that could cause crashes in 2D Contour, 2D Pocket and ContourClearing in some cases. (#47123, #49843, #49748, #38399)
Changes for Blend, Flow, and Multi-Axis
- Blend with Stepover Calculation set to On Surface can now auto-generate drive-curves if only surfaces are selected. (#48010)
- Fixed a possible gouge in Blend, Flow and Multi-axis contour with enabled 5-axis and taper tools. (#48249)
- Fixed an incorrect validation error that could occur in Blend, Flow and Multi-axis contour ("(contactOffset >= 0.0) and (contactOffset <= cutterRadius - cornerRadius)". (#21080)
- Fixed an issue in which Flow, Blend and Multi-axis contour were not working with slot tools. Now they produce a warning and generate a toolpath which doesn't allow machining undercut areas. (#48093)
- Fixed a performance issue that could occur in some cases when calculating the "Blend" operation. (#36472)
- Fixed an issue that could cause a crash in Blend, Flow and Multi-axis contour in some cases. (#36477)
Changes for Other Milling Strategies
- Fixed an issue in which Engrave could miss cutting passes if "Maximum Stay-Down distance" was small. (#48395)
- Fixed cutting path ordering to work 'top-down' for Engrave with the 'Multiple depths' option enabled. (#46503)
- Fixed a possible gouge that could occur in some cases in Flow and Multi-axis Contour. (#42005)
- Improved performance and fixed potential hangs in 2D Profile. (#9087)
- Fixed an issue in which the "Repeat pass" option was not working in Trace with enabled left/right compensation. (#48631)
- Fixed an issue in which incorrect trimming could occur in Parallel when using "avoid" surfaces. (#41960)
- Fixed an issue causing crashes in Pencil and Scallop (#47757)
Changes for General
- Fixed an issue in which an empty toolpath could cause a machine crash. (#48510)
- Fixed an issue in which the machining time could display as 0:00 for the top-level browser node. (#49769)
- Note that prior Inventor CAM releases (up to 2024) were compatible with the three previous releases of Inventor. Starting with this release of Inventor CAM 2025, you will need to run the same version of Inventor. You can keep multiple versions installed if you wish, but you will need to also keep a compatible version of Inventor.

INSTALLATION
New installation
-
Inventor must be installed prior to installing Inventor CAM
-
If you need to install Inventor, it should be available to you in the Autodesk Account Portal
-
Before you install Inventor CAM 2025, please make sure to run Windows Update, install all Windows Updates that are pending on your machine, and reboot:
- For Windows 10: Windows Update is available in the Update and Security section of Windows Settings, which is available from the Windows menu.
-
It is sometimes necessary to perform a Windows Update multiple times to completely update your operating system.
-
Verify that enough disk space is available on your machine to install Inventor CAM 2025.
-
Before installing Inventor CAM 2025, please uninstall all prior Autodesk beta products.
-
Download Inventor CAM 2025 from the Autodesk Account Portal or from your Autodesk Desktop Application.
-
Follow the instructions to download and launch the installer. Temporary extraction is to your temp folder. Operating system errors regarding very long path names can occur if the temporary location is nested too many levels deep.
-
If the installer does not launch, browse to the folder where the files were extracted, and double-click setup.exe.
Updating an existing installation
- When a new update is available, an update notification will appear in the Autodesk Desktop App.
- Please download and install the update package.
Before installing an update there is no need to uninstall a previous Inventor CAM release; but if you prefer to do so, you can uninstall the relevant release in Programs and Features in Windows Control Panel by accessing “View installed updates”.
