WHAT’S NEW
The following changes have been made in the current update (2019.3.1):
Changes for turning
- Added the ability to machine a user-defined distance below inner radius for turning face, profile, groove and part operations. (#12113)
- Fixed an issue where lead-in and lead-out angles at the back of the part were not being honored for turning profile roughing and profile finishing toolpaths. (#12905)
- Fixed an issue in turning profile roughing and profile finishing operations where the tool was cutting deeper than it should. (#13035)
- Modified the radii drop down items in turning operation dialogs to be consistent with turning terminology. (#4899)
Changes to API
- Fix a bug in which HSMWorks_setObjectParameter updated the expression, but not the value of the parameter. This resulted in the user interface displaying an incorrect value for the parameter. (#12908)
- Introduced a new HSMWorks_setObjectToolView function to set the tool orientation for an object. This is similar to what is available with HSMWorks_setJobWCS, and complementary to HSMWorks_getObjectToolView. (#12988)
The following changes have been made in an earlier update (2019.3):
New in this Version
- When there is more than one body in the model, no automatic selection of all the bodies will be done when creating a new Setup. (#8140)
- Added the ability for a grooving tool to go a specified distance below the inner radius while facing the part in a groove turning operation. (#11148)
- Fixed a problem with the retract at the shifted position when expanding the Fine Boring cycle for the post processor. (#11350)
- Avoid creating an extra tool entry when creating a new tool. (#11944)
- Added a new parameter "make sharp corners" to a profile turning toolpath to ensure that outside corners are sharp and not rounded. (#12010)
- Fixed an issue for Turning Profile operations in which leads were not generated at an angle with respect to the toolpath direction when "Use Fixed Lead Direction" was turned off. The problem occurred in both roughing and finishing passes. (#9944, #10284)
- Fixed excessive tool library load time with Harvey tools installed. (#11587)
Changes to toolpath generation
- For the Engrave toolpath, improved the ordering to reduce the distance which the tool jumps when moving between letters in engraved text. (#4968)
- Fixed a problem in the Pocket strategy that could cause an operation to freeze and not finish. (#10484)
- Fixed an issue with the Turning Profile and Turning Groove operations where the tool was not cutting to the inner radius if there was a hole with a diameter greater than the inner radius. (#9921, #10106)
- Fixed an issue where gouge checking for Turning Profile leads was incorrectly being done for the tool nose center instead of the tool contact point. (#11298)
Changes to API
- Fixed missing update of parameters when using HSMWorks_setObjectToolById().
- Added advanced API HSMWorks_setObjectGeometry2() to allow geometry override entity flags to be set.
The following changes have been made in an earlier update (2019.2.1):
New in this Version
- Fixed an issue which prevented a use of a part if the "HoleBuilder" component threw an error, but only if using SolidWorks 2018. (#10957)
- Fixed an issue where HSMLIB files exported from Fusion 360 did not have any numerical field information in HSMWorks. (#11237)
- Added a missing library to the installer which is needed for the HSMEdit backplot function. (#11319)
The following changes have been made in an earlier update (2019.2):

INSTALLATION
New installation
-
SOLIDWORKS must be installed prior to installing HSMWorks
-
Before you install HSMWorks 2019, please make sure to run Windows Update, install all Windows Updates that are pending on your machine, and reboot:
- For Windows 10: Windows Update is available in the Update and Security section of Windows Settings, which is available from the Windows menu.
- Windows 8 and Windows 8.1: Windows Update is located in the Control Panel, which is accessible on the desktop Charms Bar, Settings menu.
- Windows 7: Windows Update is located in the Control Panel, which is accessible from the Start menu.
-
It is sometimes necessary to perform a Windows Update multiple times to completely update your operating system.
-
Verify that enough disk space is available on your machine to install HSMWorks 2019 (approx. 2 GB).
-
Before installing HSMWorks 2019, please uninstall all prior Autodesk beta products.
-
Download HSMWorks 2019 from the Autodesk Account Portal (preferred) or cam.autodesk.com.
-
Follow the instructions to download and launch the installer. Temporary extraction is to your temp folder. Operating system errors regarding very long path names can occur if the temporary location is nested too many levels deep.
-
If the installer does not launch, browse to the folder where the files were extracted, and double-click setup.exe.
Updating an existing installation
- When a new update is available, an update notification will appear in the Autodesk Desktop App.
- Please download and install the update package.
Before installing an update there is no need to uninstall a previous HSMWorks release; but if you prefer to do so, you can uninstall the relevant release in Programs and Features in Windows Control Panel by accessing “View installed updates”.
